I am original from Cabo Rojo, PR.
I received a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus in 1989.
I then obtained a Ph.D. In Environmental Neurotoxicology with a focus in Molecular Biology from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1994,
I completed postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley and UT San Antonio before being recruited as an Assistant Professor by the Department of Biology, UPR-Río Piedras.
I am now a Full Professor in the Department and in addition to directing my research laboratory and teaching (either graduate or undergraduate students) I also direct the Functional Genomics Research core at the Department.
